TESTIMONY OF SHELLEY STARR
When I was seven years old my mother took me to the Cornerstone Baptist Church in our neighborhood. My mother and father were lost but Baptist. By God’s grace, it was a gospel preaching Baptist Church. I made a profession of faith when I was eleven. But it was a head knowledge. I dropped out of church at the age of twelve. I became involved with the world, drugs and alcohol. When I was sixteen , the Holy Spirit started dealing with me that I was lost and on my way to hell. I did not know it at the time, but that Baptist church teen group had been praying for me for four years. Under deep conviction of my sin, I showed up at the door of a dear Christian lady on my street. She showed me the plan of salvation sitting in her kitchen, where I trusted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I began faithfully attending Cornerstone Baptist Church and married the preacher’s son four years later. I thank God for seeking me when I was not seeking Him and for His Great Love and Grace that keeps me. Praise His Name!
TESTIMONY OF ROLLAND STARR
At the age of 5, Pastor Starr sat down with his father and listened while the gospel story was presented to him. After expressing a desire to be saved, he was led me in a sinner’s prayer for salvation. Upon entering his freshman year of High School, an evangelist came to a revival meeting at his home Church. As the evangelist preached on the difference between having a head knowledge and a heart knowledge of Jesus Christ, Pastor Starr totally surrendered his life to Jesus Christ and received perfect peace about salvation.
From an early age he knew the Lord was calling him to preach. After preaching his first sermon, the Lord revealed to him that he had embarked on his journey of Christian service. Pastor Starr then went to Bible School to prepare for the ministry, and in 1981 graduated from the Advanced Bible Studies program at the Cornerstone Bible Institute. Upon graduation, Pastor Starr and his wife moved to Southern Maine to start an independent, Bible believing Church. After establishing the work in Saco, Maine, the Lord called him to spend some time serving as the School Administrator of a Christian School. After several successful years as an Administrator, the Lord called Pastor Starr back into the pastorate. He has since been the pastor of churches in Massachusetts, California and Georgia. In the Fall of 2008 the Lord called him and his family back to the New England area, specifically the suburban Boston area. God has called him to plant the Calvary Baptist Church in Stoneham, MA.
