DOCTRINAL STATEMENT OF CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH

SCRIPTURE
We believe that the Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired of God, that they are the supreme and final authority for faith and practice, and are preserved without error in the Authorized King James Version (1611) Bible.  (Psalm 12:6&7; Psalms 119:89; Psalms 119:140; Proverbs 30:5 - 6; II Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21)

GOD
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. That God is supreme in His person, absolute in His attributes, glorious in His perfection, and eternal in His being. (John 1:1 - 4; II Corinthians 13:14; II Timothy 3:16; I John 5:7)

JESUS
We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ, His conception by the Holy Spirit, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His death on the cross to pay for our sins, His bodily resurrection,  His exaltation at God’s right hand, and His personal, pre-millennial, and pre-tribulational return.(Matthew 1:20, Ephesians 1:13-14; John 1:1,14; Matt. 1:18-23;Luke 1:35; I John 3:5; Col. 2:9; Acts 2:22-24; Mark 10:45;I Corinthinas15:3-4; Hebrews7:25; Titus 2:13-14; Acts 1:9-11; John 14:3)

HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, one with the Father and the Son, and the indweller of every believer to enlighten, guide, and enable him in life, testimony, and service, and seal each believer until the day of redemption of the body.(John 15:26-27, John 16:7-11, Ephesians 1:13-14; Romans 8:2; 10-14; Acts 1:8)

MAN
We believe that God created man in His image and likeness (a triune being: spirit, soul, and body) in a state of innocence, but through temptation, he willingly transgressed, became dead in trespasses and sins. As a result, his posterity (all men)inherited a corrupt nature, are born in sin, and are under condemnation.(Genesis 1:26 - 27; Psalm 51:5; Romans 3:23, 5:12, 6:23; Ephesians 2:1-3)

SALVATION
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; that He was buried, that He rose from the dead in His glorified body, ascended into Heaven, and as our great High Priest and Advocate He ever lives to make intercession for us; that all who believe on His name are justified on the grounds of His shed blood and receive the gift of eternal life by the grace of God. All who reject Jesus Christ as their only hope of salvation will die in their sins and perish in hell. (Isaiah 1:18; Matthew 10:28; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3:18, 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 3:24-26, 10:9-10; I Timothy2:5 - 6; Hebrews 7:24-25; Revelation 20:13 - 14)

HEAVEN AND HELL
We believe in a literal and eternal Heaven for the saved; and a literal and eternal Hell for the lost. (Mark 9:43 - 48; Luke 16:19 - 31; John 14:2 - 4; II Corinthians 5:1 - 8Revelation 20:11 - 15, 21:8)

SATAN
We believe in the existence and operating power of a real being opposed to all saints (saved unto all righteousness), and exalting himself against all that God is, has, and tries to accomplish. We believe that the: ”Evil One” is called Satan, the Prince of the Power of the Air, and is a powerful being but not all-powerful.(John 8:44; II Corinthians 4:4; I Peter 5:8-9; James 4:7; Revelation 20:1 - 10)

THE CHURCH
We believe that the local church is a congregation of baptized believers, instituted for the purpose of worship, service, and fellowship. The local churches an indigenous and autonomous body. We further believe in “The Church “as a living organism. It consists of all the blood-bought, born-again, baptized believers throughout the Church Age. This body of the redeemed collectively makes up the ultimate bride of Christ.(Matthew 16:16-18; Acts 2:42, 13:1, 14:27, 15:3; I Corinthians 1:2; Ephesians  1:22 - 23, 5:21 - 23; Colossians 1:18, 2:10; Hebrews 10:25)

ORDINANCES
We believe that baptism is the immersion of the believer in water, portraying death to sin and resurrection to newness of life, and that the Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of the Lord’s death until He comes.(Matthew 3:13-17; Acts 2:38, 8:29-39; Romans 6:4; Matthew 26: 26-29; I Corinthians 11:23-30)

SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER
We believe that those who by faith receive Jesus Christ as personal Savior are born again of the Holy Spirit, are the children of God, are heirs and joint-heirs with Jesus Christ, are kept by the power of God, and can know they are eternally saved, once forever!(Ephesians 4:30; John 10:27-30; Jude 24)

CREATION
We believe that God created the universe in six literal 24 hour periods (days), and on the 7th day He rested. We reject evolution, the Day-Age Theory, and Theistic Evolution as unscriptural theories of origin.(Genesis 1-2; Exodus 20:11; Acts 4:24; Colossians 1:16-17; Hebrews 11:3; John 1:3; Revelation 10:6; Romans 1:20; Acts 17:23-26).
